Everything you read online says that you need to get regular service on your HVAC equipment.
I usually am quite good about routine service. I would get my AC system checked out every spring and the furnace in the fall. In Terrell, Texas you need both heating and cooling sadly. I had a Terrel, Texas HVAC dealer that did all of my service. It was cheap, quick, and they got the job done. I started wondering what I was really paying for. They cleaned the inside, added coolant, lubricate, and checked for issues. There were never any problems. I also figured that we see more hot weather than cold. The service tended to be more involved with AC as well. So I skipped the furnace service for one year and only did AC. I had a normal summer with great cooling. When it came time to turn on my furnace, it wouldn’t run. Seriously? Yes, the first time I skipped heating service my system rebelled about it. I then had to call for a Terrel, Texas furnace repair to get to the bottom of it. Since I didn’t get it done early, I was calling during the winter season. Everyone was all booked up except for emergency services. I can’t live in an unheated house. So I paid for an after -hour emergency furnace service in Texas. I got my system checked, cleaned, and parts replaced. Then the furnace was back up and running. I have since learned my lesson. I won’t be skipping a furnace service in Terrell, Texas again.
